The European Union announced the appointment of a new commander for its maritime mission in charge of protecting commercial charging and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Al -Ittihad said in a brief press statement: “The Greek Maritime Brigadier Konstantinos Petikakis handed over the duties of the commander of the (Asbids) Force to his compatriot, Brigadier General Mikhail Pantufakis, on February 2.”

The statement added that the delivery process took place on board the leading Italian warship, and in the presence of the commander of the operation, the Greek maritime Admiral Vasilius Graibaris.

The European Union affirmed that Brigadier Petikakis, while taking over the task of leadership since the beginning of last November, “supported the union’s commitment to protecting freedom of navigation, lives of sailors and global joint commodities.”

The statement indicated that the European operation leader, Graperis, had granted the Greek warship crew (HYDRA), the European Union Medal, for their efforts in carrying out the tasks assigned to them in protecting freedom of navigation in the area of ​​operations.
