The Yemeni government called on the United States of America to support its efforts to close the Houthi satellite channels, and to ban its accounts on social media.

This came in the words of the Yemeni Minister of Information, Muammar Al -Iryani, during his meeting with Washington with Timothy Linding, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs, and Deputy of the American Special Envoy for the Middle East Morgan Ortigas, according to what he mentioned on his expense in the X platform.


During the meeting, the Yemeni Minister of Information welcomed the new approach to the American administration, especially the decision to re -classify the Houthis as a “foreign terrorist organization”, and considered that this step must be part of a broader strategy that includes imposing strict sanctions and stopping all forms of financial and logistical support that reaches the Houthis. Through their networks in the region, and that this classification is the beginning.

Al -Iryani called on the American officials to support the movements of the Yemeni Ministry of Information to close the offices of the Houthi channels in Lebanon and Sana’a, withhold its badges on the satellites of the company “Eutelsat”, and to stop the frequency parties that broadcast it.

He also called for a ban on satellite channels, agencies and news sites that are affected by the government media, and to prevent them from continuing to “spread misleading and misleading propaganda” that the group uses “to deceive local and international public opinion,” according to Al -Iryani.

The Yemeni Minister of Information stressed the need to ban the Houthi pages on various social media platforms, which he said has become a major tool that the Houthis use to promote their activities.

He stressed that the continuation of allowing the Houthis to use these platforms enhances their ability to spread their ideas, recruit fighters and implement operations, stressing that the international community bears responsibility for addressing these media threats.

For his part, Linding agreed on the necessity of banning the broadcast of the Houthi media, which is being used to recruit, spread the Houthi ideas, move their forces, and collect donations.

The US official explained that the Houthi classification as a “terrorist organization” will help in this with the start of companies to take steps to reduce risks, noting that the implementation of the “terrorist organization” classification includes the issuance of criminal rulings against those who support the Houthis, as violators will undergo criminal prosecution.
