Lebanon today »Warning about a seismic activity in Santorini

The Greek authorities have warned against increasing seismic activity around Santorini’s tourist island in the Aegean Sea, and advised people to avoid four ports, empty swimming pools, refrain from gathering in closed places and closing schools on Monday.

The Ministry of Civil Protection said in a statement, quoting experts charged with evaluating the risk of earthquakes and monitoring the volcanic arc in Greece, that more than 200 earthquakes have been registered since Friday between the islands of Santorini and Amersus of the volcanic.

The experts concluded, according to the Ministry, that the earthquakes are not related to volcanic activity and proposed precautionary measures, including the closure of schools on February 3, and also in the islands of Amorgos, Yos and Anafi.

And they urged people in Santorini to stay away from the small ports in Amani, Armenian, Corvos and the Vera Port, which mainly serves tourist ships. Many Santorini ports are surrounded by highly slope rock facades.
