Lebanon today »Rubio meets the President of Panama … on the impact of Trump’s demand for the channel

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held talks on Sunday with Panager President Jose Raul Molino to confirm US President Donald Trump’s demand to restore the United States to control the Panama Channel.

Trump refused to retreat from his threats to control the biological waterway, and it was not yet clear what Rubio could achieve a diplomat to please him, in light of Panama’s strong rejection of any demands that affect her sovereignty.

At the first meeting he holds abroad as foreign minister, Rubio met his Baniian counterpart Javier Martinez Asha before he went to hold a meeting with Molino. No statements have yet been issued on both sides.

Rubio will later visit the Panama Canal between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, through which about 40% of American containers pass.

Trump and Rubio notes that China has widespread power around the channel and can close it in any potential dispute, which involves catastrophic repercussions for the United States.
