Lebanon today »Libyan pressure papers in the Qaddafi case

Tariq Abu Zainab wrote in the call of the homeland:

In a remarkable development, Aisha Gaddafi, the daughter of the late Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi, made an urgent appeal to the President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Joseph Aoun. She called for his intervention to release her brother Hannibal Gaddafi, who has been detained in Lebanon since 2015. His fate remains, despite the passage of years of his presence behind bars, commenting amid charges related to hiding information on the issue of the disappearance of Imam Musa al -Sadr and his two companions in 1978. This issue is still receiving In its heavy shadows on the Lebanese scene, amid complex political and judicial tensions.

The country’s call was briefed on a new message from Aisha Gaddafi, in which she called on the Lebanese President to listen to the voice of justice and conscience, and demanded to end what she described as the arbitrary detention of her brother, and confirmed that his innocence does not need any evidence or proof.

Aisha had sent, in the past August, a message through her account on Instagram to the Libyans, in which she appealed to the honorable people of the homeland, the legal people who were studied by the principles of justice, and the ancient tribes, by moving to stop what she described as injustice and recklessness against their homeland.

In her new message, Aisha launched severe criticism towards what she described as her brother’s kidnapper, and considered that they might resort to a comic play in which she holds responsibility for the Lebanese president in an unjust case that does not be deceived by a sane person, and she asked: Who is the true oppressor and who is oppressed falsely and false? Is it the one who has been in prison for a decade without trial, and only asks for his right to life? What about how you judge?

Will the Hannibal Gaddafi issue just a legal issue? Or will the political dimensions continue to control it? Lawyer Rita Paul notes that the case is not only a legal battle, but also part of a broader political conflict.

Although legal issues deserve special attention, the political backgrounds of this issue may be more complicated. Hannibal’s arrest is believed to be part of a political pressure game from some Lebanese political forces, which are trying to use legal issues as a bargaining card.

Internationally, human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch express their deep concern about what she describes as the arbitrary detention of Hanibal. These organizations demand an immediate release.

She considered that the charges against him are fabricated, and are not based on any conclusive evidence. These pressures come in an increasing framework of focusing on legal issues around the world, as calls for a fair trial escalate and stand up to regimes that violate human rights.

A Libyan loyal source revealed to the Nidaa Al -Watan newspaper that there are several personalities close to the former Libyan regime, such as Saif al -Islam al -Gaddafi and Abdullah al -Senussi, which maintains the keys to the truth that may reveal the mystery of the disappearance of Imam Musa al -Sadr and his two companions.

Although Al -Senussi still faces a death sentence, the implementation of this ruling has not yet happened, which makes these personalities a pressure card in the hands of the Libyan government and other parties. The most important question remains: Will the Hannibal case continue to be the focus of political interactions? Or will the day be revealed in the whole truth? The consensus between Lebanon and Libya on the fate of Imam Musa al -Sadr and its two companions will remain the decisive factor in determining the course of this issue.
