Lebanon today »Iranian efforts to protect the Syrians fleeing to Lebanon after the fall of Assad

The Middle East wrote: The Lebanese political and security circles were surprised by the interest of the Iranian regime in the displaced Syrians who fled to Lebanon after the fall of the Bashar al -Assad regime, which gave the impression of the presence of some symbols of the former Syrian regime in Lebanon, and the endeavor to secure security and legal protection for them, but informed sources confirmed that “The goals of the visit exceed Iran’s attention to the Syrians, to reach a safe passage for the Iranians in Syria, and to secure their transfer to Lebanon, and then deport them to Tehran through Beirut International Airport.”

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Consular Affairs and the Iranian Parliament, Waheed Jalal Zadeh, was a sudden guest in Beirut, and he met the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the caretaker government Abdullah Bouhebib, and the Director General of Public Security, Major General Elias Al -Bisri.
In a statement he made in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said: “I used to speak with my colleagues of Lebanese officials about the latest matters related to Syrian citizens who were forced as a result of the developments that occurred in Syria to displacement from Syria to Lebanon, as we circulated with the Lebanese officials we met, all related matters On these dear Syrian brothers, we asked them to be close and constructive cooperation in providing the best necessary care they need. ”
The visit comes after information stating that a large number of Syrian security officers, who took over senior positions during the rule of Bashar al -Assad, fled to Lebanon, but a security source familiar with the atmosphere of the visit, explained to Asharq Al -Awsat that the visit has two goals. Lebanon, and Iran’s fear of arresting and handing them over to the new Syrian state. As for the second and most important goal, it is to facilitate the crossing of dozens of Iranians who hold Syrian citizenship from Damascus to Beirut, and secure their deportation to Tehran through Rafic Hariri International Airport.
The source pointed out that “most of these reside in Damascus and its environs, especially in the region of Sayyida Zainab, and (the Revolutionary Guards) had brought them from Iran to Damascus, under the rule of Assad, and they were granted Syrian citizenship.”
The Iranian guest suggested that the Syrians fleeing for many years remain in Lebanon, through his demand to provide international assistance to them. At that stage, we hope that all international forums and organizations, led by the United Nations, will provide the same necessary care and humanitarian care for the Syrian brothers who have been displaced in the recent period from Syria to Lebanon.
A prominent judicial source did not rule out, “Syrian illiterate officials fled to Lebanon, and the entry of Lebanese territory through illegal crossings.”
He assured Al -Sharq Al -Awsat, that “until now there is no information for the security services and the elimination of the presence of security officials in the Assad regime in Lebanon, but if they are discovered, they will be dealt with by legal frameworks, especially if their entry into Lebanon appears surreptitiously.”
He said: «Days after the fall of the Syrian regime, officers belonging to the fourth division, which was led by Maher Al -Assad, were arrested, some of whom were re -deported to Syria with their approval, and others traveled abroad. And if the Syrian state asked Lebanon to surrender some of the Syrians, the judicial source answered: “We did not receive such a request, and if it occurs, we cannot receive people who are not present to us, but if they are found later, the thing is based on it.”
