Miller, who served as Prime Minister of Poland between 2001 and 2004, said in an interview with the newspaper “Rzeczpospolita” in response to a question about whether Trump will be able to reach a solution to the conflict in Ukraine: “Of course this is his main goal. He dreams of receiving an award.” Nobel Peace Prize, and if he succeeds in ending this war, he will certainly obtain it,” noting that Kiev will have to “come to terms with the idea of losing the territories it has lost control over.”
On January 7, Trump indicated that resolving the conflict in Ukraine may take longer than the 24 hours he promised during his election campaign.
He expressed his hope that negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding Ukraine could be held in less than six months. At the same time, Trump promised that he would be able to achieve a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict through negotiation.
Trump said last Monday that he intends to hold a meeting with President Putin “very quickly” after his inauguration next week.
Last Sunday, Mike Waltz, a member of the US House of Representatives who will assume the position of National Security Advisor in the White House, said that he expects a call between Trump and Putin in “the coming days and weeks.”
For his part, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Putin’s readiness to meet Trump “without any preconditions,” adding that what is only required is “the presence of a mutual desire and political will to conduct dialogue and solve existing problems through dialogue.”
It should be noted that President Putin had set, in January 2024, four conditions for resolving the conflict in Ukraine, including the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Donbass and Novorossiya and Kiev’s refusal to join NATO.
