A murder was carried out by a student at a school in Slovakia

An 18-year-old student stabbed a girl and a teacher to death at their school in northeastern Slovakia on Thursday, in an attack whose motives were not immediately known.

The tragedy occurred during a class session in a school in the town of Spiszka Stara Ves, near the border with Poland, coinciding with the presence of a large number of students there, according to Police Chief Lubomir Sulak.

The police immediately went to the scene.

Solak told the press, “The attacker, who was described as an outstanding student, fled before the police arrested him in a nearby forest about an hour after he carried out the attack, and no information was available about his motives.”

The attacker killed a 51-year-old teacher, the vice principal of the secondary school, and an 18-year-old student at the same school.
Interior Minister Matos Sutaj Stock, who went to the scene of the attack, stated that “another 18-year-old schoolgirl was also taken to hospital and is in a critical but stable condition.”

Emergency services sent several ambulances to the scene to treat people with minor injuries, including two suffering from a severe bout of stress.
