The violation of the “ceasefire” continues… Israeli incursions and bombings were recorded in several towns in the south
Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement continue, as some southern border villages continue to witness artillery shelling at times, as well as bulldozing and bombing operations in several towns, accompanied by continuous flights of drones in the airspace of the south.
In the latest field developments, an Israeli mechanized force entered, for the first time, into the vicinity of Al-Baraka in the center of the city of Bint Jbeil, on Wednesday evening. Members of the group stormed the “Ahl al-Bayt compound” before the force retreated to the town of Yaron.
Simultaneously, another force blocked the road between the towns of Aitaroun and Ainata with dirt berms.
On Wednesday afternoon, Israeli army forces carried out several bombings that affected homes and infrastructure in the town of Aita al-Shaab, in Bint Jbeil, and the sound of explosions was heard in the villages of the district.
This afternoon, the Burj Matlin area on the northern outskirts of the town of Kafar Shuba was subjected to intermittent Israeli artillery shelling, accompanied by sweeping operations with heavy machine guns that targeted the town’s neighborhoods, originating from Israeli army positions in the overlooking hills.
An Israeli mechanized force incursion was also recorded from the town of Yaron towards the town of Maroun al-Ras, while Israeli bulldozers continued to bulldoze the Yaron Forest for the fourth day in a row.
The National News Agency representative in Marjayoun reported that the Israeli army carried out a bombing operation in the town of Markaba in Marjayoun District.
In parallel, an Israeli reconnaissance plane was recorded flying over Beirut and its suburbs, as well as over the central Bekaa, at a very low altitude.

Enhancing the feeling of security in the western sector
On the same level, the United States Embassy announced in a statement, “The Chairman of the Cessation of Hostilities Implementation Mechanism Committee, American General Jasper Jeffers, today, accompanied by French General Guillaume Ponchan, joined officers from the Lebanese Army in a visit to army checkpoints in the western sector of southern Lebanon.” The Fifth Brigade of the Lebanese Army took full control of this area last week immediately after the withdrawal of Israeli forces. Now, soldiers of the Fifth Brigade are working to make roads and villages safe to enable residents to return to their homes.”
She pointed out that “Generals Jeffers and Bonchan visited seven army checkpoints, where officers from the committee inspected the Lebanese soldiers, as they worked to monitor the roads to provide security and prevent the movement of unauthorized armed groups, in accordance with the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement signed on November 26, 2024.” They witnessed the reconstruction efforts and the detonation of some of the 31 (107 mm) rockets that were discovered in the town of Shamaa this morning.”
General Jeffers commented: “The Lebanese Army checkpoints and patrols are operating effectively throughout the western sector of southern Lebanon, and the soldiers are committed to their mission as the sole guarantors of Lebanon’s security. Their presence has created a feeling of security and stability, which will be important for civilians who will soon resume their normal activities in the area. We are on a very positive path to continue the withdrawal of the Israeli army, as planned, and the Lebanese army provides Lebanon with security and stability.”
