With missiles and drones, the Houthis announce the targeting of an American aircraft carrier
The Houthis in Yemen announced on Wednesday that they had targeted an American aircraft carrier with a number of missiles and drones in the Red Sea, where they have also been launching attacks on commercial ships for more than a year.
Houthi spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sarie said in a statement that they carried out “a military operation targeting the American aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman and a number of its warships in the northern Red Sea.”
He added that the attack was “by a number of winged missiles and drones, during their attempt to carry out operations to target Yemen.”
In response to a question from Agence France-Presse, an American defense official confirmed that “all personnel are safe and no American ships or equipment were harmed,” without confirming whether the attack occurred or not.
