Iran officially reveals the Watchful Eye… What is it?

Iran’s armed forces unveiled an advanced reconnaissance ship, state media reported Wednesday, as military forces conducted exercises across the country focused on protecting nuclear facilities.

State television reported that “the country’s first intelligence ship, named Zagros, joined the navy’s combat operations.”

The report added that the Iranian-made ship is equipped with “electronic sensors,” interceptor missiles, and other cyber and intelligence capabilities.

The launch of Zagros comes within the framework of major military exercises that the army and Revolutionary Guard have been conducting for days and are scheduled to continue until mid-March and focus on protecting the main nuclear sites, including Natanz, Fordow, and Khondab.

State media quoted Navy Commander Admiral Shahram Irani as saying that the new spy ship “will be the watchful eye of the Iranian Navy in the depths of the seas and oceans.”

Tasnim News Agency reported that the destroyer “Zagros” is a new class of military ships equipped with electronic sensors and has the ability to intercept cyber operations and conduct intelligence monitoring.

The war maneuvers coincide with the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump on Monday, who has placed the Iranian nuclear program under close surveillance. (Sky News Arabia)
