Completely closing the weapons file outside the camps
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Basil Al-Hassan, Chairman of the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee, and he stressed at the beginning of the meeting two issues: closing the weapons file outside the camps and the urgent human rights file. He said: We held this meeting after a series of developments that Lebanon witnessed, starting with the ceasefire, passing through the recent discussion about the Palestinian reality, all the way to the internal political developments and their repercussions on the Palestinian file in Lebanon in all its aspects, in addition to the swearing-in speech by President Joseph Aoun, who It included a paragraph related to the issue of Palestinian weapons, and based on the above and under the guidance of the Council of Ministers, His Excellency the President, and those concerned in state institutions to resolve the issue of weapons outside the camps, we announce today that this file has been completely closed. He added: After closing the weapons file outside the camps, this matter will have positive repercussions on Lebanon, the Lebanese, and our Palestinian brothers.
He revealed that work is underway in partnership with the ministries concerned with researching the draft law related to the human rights of Palestinian refugees. Stressing that the issue of commitment to the right of return and rejection of resettlement is at the heart of the deep commitment of Lebanon, the Lebanese and the Palestinian people. Al-Hassan concluded by praising the role of all factions in preserving Lebanon, its institutions, and its stability, pointing to other aspects of this role in its economic and social dimension to Lebanon.
After that, the attendees issued a final statement, which stated:
– Confirming what was stated in the sworn speech of His Excellency the President regarding the sovereignty of the Lebanese state.
-Emphasizing the right of return and refuting the settlement project.
– Emphasizing that security in Lebanon is part of the security of the Palestinians, and the necessity of contributing to establishing security, stability and civil peace.
– Emphasizing that security stability is the demand of the two peoples and rejecting the issue that the camps are a state within a state.
The Palestinians in Lebanon are guests who have nothing to do with Lebanese affairs.
– Jointly begin work on the social and humanitarian rights file in order to reach tangible results and work to approve it in the House of Representatives.
– Work to include the Palestinian file in the next ministerial statement.
– Emphasis on sustainable and joint dialogue to achieve what was agreed upon.
– Promoting positive discourse and organizing Lebanese-Palestinian relations to block those who harm Lebanese-Palestinian relations
– Commitment to equalizing the rights and duties of the Palestinians and preventing any targeting of Palestinian refugees in the camps.
