Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri congratulated “friend Nawaf Salam” on naming the latter as Prime Minister of Lebanon.
Hariri said, in a post on his account on the “X” platform, “Congratulations to Lebanon for naming our friend Nawaf Salam to head the government.” “It is an additional opportunity that complements the election of General Joseph Aoun as President of the Republic.”
He expressed his “great hope that all forces will come under the umbrella of legitimacy, concerned with protecting everyone, preserving dignity, and stopping policies of cruelty, maliciousness, and bullying, to complete the contract of constitutional institutions.”
He stressed that “the House of Representatives has said its word in accordance with the Constitution, and the Council’s word must be heard.”
He continued: “All support and prayers for success for the President-designate,” stressing the importance of this step in the context of completing the building of constitutional institutions in Lebanon, at a time when the country is witnessing great challenges at the political and economic levels.
Hariri went on to stress that Lebanon needs political solidarity and the activation of all constitutional institutions to overcome the delicate stage it is going through. He said: “Our hope is that everyone will come under the umbrella of legitimacy and work together to achieve the political and economic stability that the Lebanese people seek.”
He also extended his deep thanks to former Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati for his “distinguished” performance at an exceptional stage in Lebanon’s history, noting that Mikati had led the government during a difficult period for the country, and the step of thanking him came in appreciation of the efforts he made in maintaining the stability of institutions in light of the crisis.
