Mikati leads the candidates to head the new government… awaiting the opposition’s position

A parliamentary source in the “National Moderation” bloc confirmed to the “Asharq Al-Awsat” newspaper that the latter is moving to nominate caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to head the new government.

The source said that the new reform path, which the inside and outside demands to follow, is clear in the vision that the Prime Minister will set, as well as in the government formation and ministerial statement.

For its part, Lebanese Forces sources confirmed to the same newspaper that consultations are continuing between the sovereign parliamentary blocs and the 31 bloc, and are seeking to agree on a single name.

The sources pointed out that, as of now, there is no final decision and the picture may become clearer in the coming hours.

She said: “We hope that the Prime Minister will be one of the two representatives, who are part of the team, with whom we fought the confrontation throughout the last period,” referring to the representatives Ashraf Rifi and Fouad Makhzoumi.
