The Ministry of Agriculture sponsored a meeting in Akkar to promote industrial potato cultivation

The Ministry of Agriculture sponsored a meeting in the Akkar Agriculture Department, in implementation of the directives of the Caretaker Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abbas Hajj Hassan, in the presence of a number of industrialists and farmers from the Akkar and Bekaa regions.

During the meeting, it was agreed to provide potato seeds designated for industry to interested farmers, while ensuring the quality and its suitability to production requirements. Official contracts will be signed between the potato processing factories and the farmers, stipulating that the factories will receive the production, according to the quantities and quality agreed upon, in a way that achieves the interest of both parties.

The participants praised the Ministry’s efforts in sponsoring this agreement, which represents an important step to support farmers in the Akkar and Bekaa regions, as well as efforts made to reduce smuggling.

This agreement is a model of cooperation between the Ministry, farmers and industrialists, and aims to promote industrial potato cultivation and improve the conditions of farmers in light of the current challenges, thus contributing to achieving sustainability for the agricultural sector and protecting the national economy.
