This is the situation of Hezbollah after the election of Aoun.. An Israeli report spoke

The Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post published a new report in which it talked about the decisive moment awaiting Lebanon, after the election of General Joseph Aoun as President of the Republic.

The report he translated said Lebanon24 Aoun enjoys the approval of the United States, considering that what Lebanon witnessed through the election of Aoun demonstrated the decline in the influence of Hezbollah, which is supported by Iran, during the era of its last devastating war with Israel.

The newspaper touched on Aoun’s speech after his election, yesterday, Thursday, when he said that he would work to make the right to bear arms a monopoly on the state, pledging to rebuild what Israel destroyed in the south and the southern suburbs of Beirut. He added: We will work to improve relations with the Arab countries, and we have a historic opportunity. To restore relations with Syria.

The report considered that Aoun’s election represents an opportunity for a new beginning for Lebanon after years of Hezbollah’s dominance, and added: There is also hope that Aoun, as a former army commander, will be able to influence the implementation of the Lebanese army’s control over the southern part of the country, as part of the conditions for a ceasefire. The site fire between Israel and Hezbollah.

He continued: If Aoun is committed to bringing peace to Lebanon and is able to stand up to Hezbollah, he may be able to guide Lebanon towards the stability it has not known for years, and strengthen the fragile truce.

The report also believed that financial support for Lebanon has become more important now than it was before the war, because the costs of reconstruction in Lebanon, especially in Beirut and also in southern Lebanon, are high.

The report also saw that Hezbollah is no longer what it was before, especially after the recent blows it received during the last war, and said: If the election of Aoun is merely a return to the status quo, that is, the presence of a figurehead who cannot maintain control over the reins of Hezbollah, then there will be nothing to do with it. It calls for optimism.

He continued: This is Aoun’s opportunity to show the Lebanese people, Hezbollah, Israel, and the entire world that he means his job and that he is serious about improving the conditions of his country. For Lebanon, this is an opportunity for a new beginning.

For its part, the Israeli newspaper Maariv said that Aoun’s election represented a turning point in the complex Lebanese political system, but it comes with a series of major challenges.

In this context, Jonathan Al-Houri, an expert and lecturer on Lebanese affairs and public diplomacy, says that one of the important advantages that Aoun enjoys is precisely that he is not a face of the traditional political class in Lebanon, and he added: This matter is one of the reasons that prompted many to support him. Within the Lebanese Parliament, as a candidate outside the political game.

Al-Houri considered that one of the great advantages at the present time is the fall of the regime of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who was practicing political interference in Lebanese affairs, considering that this matter gives Aoun more freedom to work with Western countries.

On the other hand, Al-Houri says that there are internal challenges that Aoun faces that are economically based, explaining that the financial crisis that Lebanon is suffering from has also deepened due to the war into which Hezbollah dragged Lebanon.

Al-Houri believed that Lebanon’s ability to implement the ceasefire agreement with Israel has increased because the country now has a president who will implement the agreement, and he added: The political confusion that Lebanon has been suffering from for two years has been resolved, and thus the government apparatus can be returned to work. But at the same time, there are challenges that Aoun faces within Parliament between the various political blocs, and therefore it must be seen how things will proceed in the coming months.
