Armed men attack the presidential palace in Chad.. Are there any casualties?


“Novosti” agency, citing Chadian security sources, announced today, Wednesday, that “armed men attacked the presidential palace in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, and the security forces confronted them and imposed complete control around the palace.”








In this context, the government spokesman in Chad announced in a statement on his Facebook page, “The situation has been brought under control following the exchange of fire in the vicinity of the presidential palace and nothing serious.”

Chadian security sources also confirmed to the “Novosti” agency that “the security forces responded to the skirmishes that took place in the vicinity of the presidential palace, and imposed complete control in the vicinity of the presidential palace without any disturbances at the present time.”

She added, “There were injuries as a result of skirmishes and shooting.”

“The shooting began around 20:45 local time,” the AFP news agency reported.

She noted that “all roads near the presidential palace were closed, and military equipment, including tanks, appeared in the city center.”

The incident occurred a few hours before Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was scheduled to begin an official visit to Chad. (Russia Today)
