Hajj Hassan met with technicians and technicians from United Nations organizations to complete preparations for surveying agricultural damage
The Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government, Dr. Abbas Al-Haj Hassan, held a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters with technicians and technicians from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the World Food Program (WFP), as part of completing preparations for the launch of… Surveys of agricultural damage resulting from the recent Israeli aggression in various Lebanese regions.
During the meeting, work and coordination mechanisms were discussed between the concerned authorities to identify and document the damage affecting the agricultural sector in the governorates of Nabatieh, the South, the Bekaa, Baalbek-Hermel, and the rest of the Lebanese territories.
The necessary executive steps to carry out survey operations accurately and effectively were also identified.
Hajj Hassan explained, “The Ministry will cooperate closely with United Nations organizations with the aim of assessing the damage and determining the immediate needs of the affected farmers, while emphasizing the importance of speedy implementation of this survey to provide the necessary support as soon as possible.”
For his part, officials from FAO, UNDP and WFP affirmed their “full readiness to support the Ministry of Agriculture in implementing this vital project,” stressing that “the focus will be on assessing agricultural damage and searching for sustainable solutions to support the agricultural sector in Lebanon after the aggression.”
In conclusion, Hajj Hassan stressed “the importance of continuous coordination between local and international bodies to ensure compensation for damages and provision of immediate support to farmers,” stressing that “the Lebanese agricultural sector needs all possible support to overcome this crisis.”
