The Syndicate of Employees and Users of the Companies Operating the Cellular Sector “Alfa” and “Touch” confirmed that “the priority today is to give the remaining rights to employees with retroactive effect before placing new financial burdens.”

The union said in a message addressed to employees in the two companies: “With the beginning of a new year, we hope that it will bring goodness for our country, Lebanon, and prosperity for our sector, which has proven its importance at all times, especially during the past year.”

She added: “The telecommunications sector, especially the cellular sector, would not have withstood the major storms that struck Lebanon had it not been for the efforts made by those who took over its management during the most difficult times.”

She continued: “In the midst of difficulties, many employees refused to leave their jobs and go to other companies that strived to include many of them, given their competence and professionalism. They accepted a little and were patient until their situation was improved and they were given a good part of their acquired rights, while a portion remained unpaid.” Until now, while others did not care, could not be patient, or were not loyal to a sector that gave them so much, promising themselves to return after recovery.”

The union believed that “developing appropriate plans to develop the cellular sector is vital and appreciated, whether from a technical or human staff standpoint, but the priority today, as everyone was preparing and declaring, is to give the remaining rights to employees with retroactive effect before placing new financial burdens.”

She hoped for “prosperity for the sector and justice for those who sacrificed during years of difficulties, in contrast to those who only sought temporary self-interest and wanted to return on the back of an effort exerted by an employee with all dedication, sincerity and patience.”
