US envoy Amos Hockstein announced today, Monday, that the Israeli army will completely withdraw from Lebanon, stressing adherence to the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel.

Following his meeting with Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri in Ain al-Tineh, Hockstein said that detailed discussions were held with the Speaker of Parliament regarding the ceasefire, and he added: “Before my visit to Ain al-Tineh, I went to Naqoura and co-chaired the meeting of the committee concerned with monitoring the ceasefire.”

Hochstein stated that the Israeli army’s withdrawals will continue until the Israeli forces are completely outside Lebanese territory, indicating that the basis is for the Lebanese army to be the only entity that provides security for the residents of southern Lebanon and its presence at the Blue Line.

At the conclusion of his statement, Hockstein said that “implementing the ceasefire agreement in southern Lebanon is not easy,” while declaring that his country is committed to supporting the Lebanese army.
