More than a million signatures…a petition to ban fireworks in Germany

More than a million people signed a petition calling for a comprehensive ban on fireworks throughout Germany, after the violent popping sounds that occurred during New Year’s celebrations, according to “Russia Today.”

The police union “GDP” in Berlin said that the number of people who have supported the signature collection campaign launched by the union has so far reached more than 1.01 million people. The union described this petition on the “X” platform as a political assignment.

The text of the petition stated: “What we witnessed last New Year’s Eve exceeds all limits. These violent attacks on our female colleagues and colleagues must end.” The union said in the petition that it is demanding a ban on fireworks in private areas, considering that this measure represents an important first step to enhance the safety of emergency teams on New Year’s Eve.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Interior Minister Nancy Weiser (both from the Social Democratic Party) expressed their rejection of the idea of banning fireworks.

“In Tripoli… troubles develop into shooting, confusion, and raids to arrest the perpetrator.”
