Disagreement between Israel and Hamas regarding the details of the Gaza agreement

Israel and Hamas disagreed on Sunday regarding the details of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and the return of hostages held by the Palestinian movement.

A Hamas official said that the movement had agreed to a list of 34 Israeli hostages who would be returned as part of an agreement that could eventually lead to a ceasefire.

The leader, who requested to remain anonymous, told Agence France-Presse, “Hamas agreed to release 34 Israeli prisoners from a list submitted by Israel through mediators as part of the first phase of a prisoner exchange deal within the framework of a ceasefire agreement, and we informed the mediators of the approval.”

He added that the list includes “all women, all patients, all children, and elderly Israeli prisoners held by Hamas and the resistance factions,” explaining that “Hamas agreed to release the 34 prisoners, whether they were alive or dead,” without further details.

He pointed out that “Hamas and the resistance factions need about a week of calm and no planes flying, to communicate with the captive groups and identify the living and the dead.”
