An Israeli list of 34 prisoners within the framework of a possible agreement. This is what Hamas agreed to

American and Arab mediators are currently intensifying their efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

In this context, a Hamas official told Reuters on Sunday that the movement had agreed to a list of 34 prisoners provided by Israel to be exchanged as part of a possible ceasefire agreement.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, confirmed that any agreement is conditional on reaching an agreement on the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a permanent ceasefire.

For their part, sources in the Israeli negotiating delegation said that there are solutions to all the outstanding points regarding the Gaza deal, awaiting a decision from the political level, indicating that the agreement will be interim and will last about two to three months.

Sources with the Israeli delegation reported that the agreement stipulates granting Hamas leaders at home and abroad immunity from targeting in exchange for leaving the Gaza Strip and handing over power to an independent Palestinian body in coordination with Arab and foreign countries.

She added that international forces may be deployed in the sector, similar to UNIFIL deployed in southern Lebanon. The sources indicated that the United States will sponsor the implementation of the agreement with all its provisions.

Efforts were renewed to reach a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and to return the Israelis detained in Gaza before US President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20.

Israel sent negotiators to Doha on Friday to resume talks mediated by Qatar and Egypt, while the administration of US President Joe Biden, which supports mediation efforts, urged Hamas to agree to an agreement.

Hamas said it is committed to reaching an agreement as soon as possible, but it is not yet clear how close the two sides are.
