A new intersection without coordination, and the goal is to reject the leader
An opposition parliamentary source said that the process of shuffling papers regarding the presidential file in the last few days led to an uncoordinated intersection between Hezbollah and the Lebanese Forces to reject the name of the Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, for the presidency.
The source pointed out that the position of the Free Patriotic Movement towards the army commander is known, and it is the result of Gibran’s personal problem with the commander because he never adhered to his instructions or requests in politics, while Hezbollah always wants a somewhat weak president to make dealing with him easier.
What is not understood, the source continues, is the position of the forces, which informed those concerned and the allies of their rejection of the name Joseph Aoun.
The source said that the forces have always called for a sovereign president with a solid position, and it is incomprehensible by the opposition to this day that the forces rejected the name days before the due date and for any purpose.
