From UNIFIL…an urgent statement about a blatant Israeli violation!
UNIFIL forces announced, on Saturday evening, that peacekeepers saw this morning an Israeli army bulldozer destroying a blue barrel that represents the line of withdrawal between Lebanon and Israel in the Labouneh area, as well as a watchtower belonging to the Lebanese Armed Forces next to a UNIFIL position in the area.
UNIFIL forces considered in a statement that the deliberate and direct destruction by the Israeli army of UNIFIL property and clearly identifiable infrastructure belonging to the Lebanese Armed Forces constitutes a flagrant violation of Resolution 1701 and international law.
He concluded: We call on all parties to avoid any actions, including the destruction of property and civilian infrastructure, that would jeopardize the cessation of hostilities.
