Who elects the president: representatives or ambassadors?

Marouf Al-Daouk wrote in Al-Diyar: It is no longer a secret to anyone that all the blocs and representatives are waiting for what the ambassadors of the five-member committee consisting of the United States of America, France, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar, together, or individually, will carry, the name of the candidate they prefer to elect as President of the Republic. Despite their repeated assertions that naming the president is the responsibility of the representatives themselves, they do not interfere in nominating any person for the presidency, and they are keen to refer anyone who asks them about the matter. This issue, in addition to the successive statements issued by the committee since the issue of the presidential vacuum has raged in Lebanon for more than two years, urging the necessity of holding presidential elections, while specifying general specifications for the next Lebanese president, without mentioning the name of any candidate that the committee prefers publicly.

However, this does not simply mean that the committee, or most of its members, will step aside without delving into the secrets of the election process, and referring implicitly or directly to the characteristics of this or that candidate, especially after many rumors have circulated about it possessing the name of any candidate acceptable to it through a series of… Advantages and specifications, the first of which is that he does not belong to the disintegrating resistance alliance, enjoys Arab and international acceptance, and has proven qualifications to undertake the solution of the financial and economic crisis and lead the process of restoring the situation. Reconstructing what was destroyed by the aggressive Israeli war on Lebanon, and dealing positively and openly with Arab, European and international funds, to help resolve the financial and economic crisis, and accelerate the process of Lebanon’s advancement in all aspects.

Based on the specifications required by the five-member committee for the lucky candidate, any candidate without them will be outside the framework of the political coverage of the committee countries and international support alike, which is why he is keen to avoid endorsement of his support from most members of the Council, in order to avoid undesirable complications, and it will not be in the interest of Lebanon and the Lebanese. .
For this reason, it will not be possible to remain silent about the name of the presidential candidate, who is favored by most members of the five-member committee and who has the aforementioned specifications within a few days, despite all the attempts at camouflage and cover-up undertaken by its ambassadors in Lebanon on behalf of their countries, and this is what most parliamentary blocs are expected to be informed of. The representatives are in the few days between the presidential elections, and this is supported by the positions and statements issued by them from time to time.
