About the ramming attack in New Orleans…this is what the perpetrator’s brother said

Abdul-Jabbar, the brother of Shams al-Din Jabbar, the suspect in a truck ramming incident on New Orleans’ busy Bourbon Street, spoke about his brother’s religious background and ideas, stressing that the attack was an example of extremism, not religion.

In an interview with the New York Times, Abdul-Jabbar, 24, said he grew up in Beaumont, Texas, as a Christian, but Shams al-Din, 42 and now deceased, later converted to Islam. “As far as I know, he was a Muslim for most of his life,” Abdul-Jabbar explained. “What he did does not represent Islam, but rather reflects dangerous extremism.”

The suspect’s movements before the attack
One of Shams El-Din’s neighbors in Houston revealed details about his behavior and movements before the attack. The neighbor, who requested to remain anonymous, told Fox News Digital that he saw Shams al-Din Jabbar carrying a white truck outside his house on Tuesday morning, noting that he was preparing to move to Louisiana after getting a new job.

“He said he got a job in Louisiana and was moving very light items in the truck,” the neighbor added. “I offered to help him but he said he was fine.” He expressed his shock when he learned that his neighbor was accused in the incident, saying: “I cannot believe that he could be responsible for such an act.”

According to New York Times reports, Jabbar was known among his friends and neighbors for his intelligence, calmness, and cooperation. Chris Pawson, one of Jabbar’s schoolmates, said he was a “quiet, reserved and very intelligent” young man. (fox news)
