The forces consider themselves the boy’s Christian mother in naming the next president, because they have the largest and most prominent Christian bloc, and their president, Samir Geagea, has the full right to run for the presidency of the republic, when political conditions mature.
On the other hand, although some consider that the regional transformations enhance the chances of the army commander arriving in Baabda, and his shares have risen on the presidential candidates’ stock exchange, political sources believe that the issue of consensus around General Aoun as president has not yet been resolved, so the opposition is waiting to take a position on this nomination. Without this meaning a veto on his nomination, the Free Patriotic Movement opposes his arrival in Baabda.

Ambiguity prevails in the position of the Shiite duo regarding adopting General Aoun’s option, knowing that the political relationship between the army commander and Hezbollah is going well since the second extension session, but the approval of the Shiite duo is linked to some extent to the constitutional amendment and the position of the Christian forces, as the duo refuses to strain its relationship with the forces. Christianity, and going against his presidential choices, after MP Gebran Bassil objected to the nomination of the army commander.
Only Jumblatt decided his position early, and remains steadfast in supporting Aoun, and intends to initiate the democratic meeting with presidential pressure, in the context of his contribution to completing the presidential election, and reaching an inevitable result in the session of the ninth of January.
