January 9 is a pivotal date

The head of the Orthodox National Council, Robert Al-Abyad, congratulated the Lebanese on the beginning of the new year, pointing out in a statement that the people are waiting for Lebanon to see the light again and return as before, a country of pride, dignity, life, coexistence, dignified citizenship, and respect for others through our exit from the shells of sects, parties, and political movements.

He believed that Lebanon needed a new beginning, the slogan of which was national unity, all belonging to the homeland, and respect for our Lebanese flag.

He considered that the House of Representatives session on January 9, 2020, is a day of hope for the Lebanese people to elect a president of the republic. It does not matter what the name of the president or the name of the prime minister is. What matters to the people is restoring the prestige of the state and institutions, and all officials and political leaders must respect the system, the constitution, and the applicable laws and not tamper with them. With them.

He pointed out that the president, the government and its ministers are required to be role models for the Lebanese of all sects and religious affiliations, not a sect or party that can control the nation and the citizens.

He said: The opportunity is before us, and Lebanon is awaiting a lot of work and effort. There are issues that have been unresolved for many years, waiting for a solution. We appeal to all officials and stakeholders, the nation’s representatives and all political blocs, including parties and movements, to save Lebanon and the Lebanese, pull them out of the dark tunnel, and elect a President of the Republic without wasting time. All countries are waiting for you to elect a president so that they can come back and help us rebuild our beloved country, Lebanon.

Al-Abyad concluded: Day 9 K2 is a pivotal date for the launch of the new Lebanon reconstruction workshop or the continuation of the internal division that will lead the country to a comprehensive collapse.
