He started coughing violently and choking… A report reveals an assassination attempt on Bashar al-Assad in Moscow

The British newspaper “The Sun” revealed that former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is 59 years old, was subjected to a poisoning attempt, as he suddenly felt ill last Sunday. He sought medical help, then began “coughing violently and choking immediately.”

The newspaper quoted an online account called “General SVR,” allegedly run by a former high-ranking Russian spy, that “there are reasons to believe that an assassination attempt on Bashar al-Assad has occurred.”

The source added that Al-Assad received treatment in his apartment and his health condition stabilized on Monday.

Reports claimed that the tests conducted on him showed the presence of poison in his body, but no other sources or official confirmation from the Russian side were mentioned.

In a related context, The Sun newspaper revealed that Al-Assad’s wife, Asmaa, 49 years old, who was born in London, faces an effective ban from returning to the United Kingdom, after her passport expired.

Asma currently lives with her husband and family in exile in Moscow. This comes in light of speculation about marital disputes between Assad and his wife, as rumors are circulating that the latter is seeking to divorce him. (scene)
