The situation in northeastern Syria is still difficult. The United Nations is sounding the alarm

The United Nations announced that the situation in northeastern Syria is still difficult for 40,000 people residing in 215 collective emergency centers, adding that it was unable to reach the city of Ain al-Arab (Kobani) and Manbij due to the security conditions.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs stated that its staff were unable to reach the cities of Manbij and Kobani in northwestern Syria for two weeks.

The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs added that the security situation in northeastern Syria is volatile and hampers humanitarian operations.

The United Nations envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, said that failure to find a political solution to the tension in northeastern Syria between the SDF and the opposition factions loyal to Ankara, “will have serious consequences for all of Syria.”

The pro-Turkey factions took control of Manbij after the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces following a ceasefire sponsored by the United States, and the city witnessed numerous violations against its residents, while Kobani was subjected to air and ground bombardment in the past two weeks and a Turkish threat to launch a military operation.
