Russian -American talks were launched in Istanbul on the normalization of the work of diplomatic and consular missions and the removal of obstacles laid down by the previous American administration in front of the Russian -American diplomatic work.

Informed Russian sources said that “the talks between the two sides, which started at ten in the morning, Moscow time at the residence of the American Consul in Istanbul, may last for at least five hours.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Wednesday in Doha that high -ranking diplomats from Russia and the United States will meet in Istanbul today, Thursday, to discuss the resumption of natural operations at the two embassies in both countries.

He said: “Our high -level diplomats and our experts will meet to discuss the problems and obstacles that have accumulated as a result of the illegal activities of the previous US administration to create artificial obstacles in front of the work of the Russian embassy in Washington, which we have repeated, of course, and we also created uncomfortable conditions for the work of the American embassy in Moscow.”

For its part, the US State Department stated in its statement yesterday that the Russian -American talks in Istanbul will address the activities of the embassies, and will discuss the “operational issues” related to their embassies and their consulates.

American media said that the agenda of today’s talks includes issues (employment, visas, diplomatic banking services, and other technical topics).

The Saudi capital had hosted the delegations of Russia and the United States on February 18 to discuss various outstanding issues between Moscow and Washington, and ways to revive Russian -American relations.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also announced in the aftermath of Riyadh’s talks, the Washington and Moscow agreement to resume the two embassies, their work in all their crews. (Russia today)
