Israel waves not to withdraw from the Philadelphia axis

Israeli Energy Minister Elie Cohen announced today, Thursday, that Israel will not withdraw from the Philadelphia axis except on conditions.

During a radio interview, Cohen explained that the Israeli army will not withdraw from the axis until after the kidnappers were returned, Hamas was overthrown and Gaza was evacuated from Israeli arms and security control over the Strip.

Israel is supposed to withdraw from the Philadelphia axis next Saturday, based on the ceasefire agreement.

Israel imposed its control on the axis last May as part of an incursion into the southern Gaza Strip.

She says that she needs to secure this axis because Hamas used tunnels linking the sector to the Egyptian Sinai Peninsula to smuggle weapons and prohibited materials.

A large network of tunnels remained used a long time after Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. (Sky News)
