The Information Committee discussed the issue of the submarine cable and its development

The Media and Communications Committee held a session, headed by its Chairman, Representative Dr. Ibrahim Al-Moussawi, and attended by its rapporteur, Representative Yassin Yassin, and the member representatives.

The committee discussed several files related to communications, including OTT and Starlink. The process of arriving at a specific mechanism that guarantees the continuity of the Internet in the event of war was also investigated.

The committee touched on “the issue of Ogero and the illegal Internet.”

The discussion continued on the process of organizing the sector to reach a high-quality communications network, which reflects positively on the communications sector and leads to improving state revenues.

The committee raised the topic of “the submarine cable and discussed the process of modernizing and developing it as an alternative solution in the event of an emergency.”

Al-Moussawi continued this proposal, stressing its “importance.”

He also followed up with the representatives “the process of preparing a law proposal related to submarine cables.”

The committee then concluded by issuing a recommendation on “the necessity of developing a comprehensive strategic plan that addresses the problems of the telecommunications sector.”
