Because of the “next day” plan in Gaza … an Israeli attack on Egypt and the Egyptian rifles closer to Tel Aviv

The former Israeli intelligence officer, Lieutenant -Colonel Elie Dickel, launched a sharp attack on Egypt, after the opposition leader Yair Lapid proposed the possibility of Cairo to participate in the Gaza Future Plan.

In fiery statements, Dickel said: “Egypt has trampled on the peace agreement since its signing in 1979, and bites it tirelessly … He gave Egypt a strategic privilege that brings the defender 60 kilometers to Israel, which appears to be suicide.”

He added that the plan requires the abolition of Egypt’s external debts, which is estimated at about 75 billion dollars, considering that this is “a gift that the United States itself cannot present.”

He claimed that: “This will bring Egyptian rifles closer to Tel Aviv, while Egypt has supported Hamas and its weapon for many years. I do not see a reason for granting these rewards, ”he said.

On Tuesday, in Washington, opposition leader Yair Lapid had presented in Washington, a complementary plan for the “next day” plan for the war in Gaza, which was presented by former US President Donald Trump. The plan proposes to place the Gaza Strip under Egypt’s responsibility for 15 years, in exchange for the international community to cancel the Egyptian foreign debt, which is estimated at 155 billion dollars.

In a quick and decisive response, Egypt strongly rejected the proposal, stressing that “Cairo will not participate in any attempt to control Gaza,” according to the official media.

The plan presented by Lapid has been formulated over recent months, with the participation of high -ranking political and security officials. The Israeli opposition leader presented it during his visit to the United States, where he met senior officials in the Trump administration and prominent Senate, with the aim of promoting it as a complementary part of the “next day” principles that Trump recently proposed.

These statements come amid increasing tension between Cairo and Tel Aviv, against the backdrop of the Egyptian position on the war in Gaza, and they rejected any military or administrative role in the Strip after the end of the Israeli operations.

The peace treaty between Egypt and Israel was signed on March 26, 1979 in Washington, under the auspices of US President Jimmy Carter, between Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin.

The agreement provides for the end of the war between the two countries. Israel’s withdrawal from the entire Sinai and that it be a demilitarized zone along the Egyptian -Israeli border, in addition to recognizing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

According to the agreement, Egypt obtained great economic and military support from the United States after signing the agreement.

Anwar Sadat was assassinated in 1981 because of the signing of the agreement.

Despite the peace agreement signed between Egypt and Israel in 1979, relations between them witnessed tension due to Egypt’s traditional position supporting the Palestinian cause, especially in the Gaza Strip, especially during the recent Israeli aggression on Gaza.

The hostile statements of some Israeli officials against Egypt, such as criticizing the peace agreement or accusing Egypt of supporting “Hamas”, caused severe reactions from Cairo.

Egypt also rejected Israeli proposals related to the future of Gaza, such as resettlement of the Palestinians in North Sinai. (Sky News)
