11 people were killed in an ISIS attack in Syria

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 11 truffle pickers were killed in an attack attributed to ISIS in the Raqqa desert, the former stronghold of the extremist organization.

The Observatory indicated in a statement that their deaths came “as a result of the explosion of a mine in a car that was carrying a number of them, during a trip to search for truffles in the Al-Hima desert in Raqqa” in northern Syria.

He added: “The bombing was followed by an attack by ISIS members with machine guns on a gathering of cars searching for truffles.”

The Observatory, which is based in Britain but has a wide network of sources in Syria, explained that the attack also resulted in the kidnapping of three people.
