Kazakhstan increases electricity imports from Russia

Data obtained by Kommersant newspaper confirm that Kazakhstan has begun purchasing electricity from the Russian Federation at a higher price due to new trade rules between the two countries.

According to available data, Kazakhstan increased the volume of electricity imported from Russia and also increased the price of this electricity, after launching the energy market on July 1, 2023.

Customs statistics indicate that, from July to December last year, Kazakhstan purchased more than 3 billion kilowatt hours from the Russian Federation, which is 156% more than the indicators for the same period in 2022.

Last year, a Russian gas pipeline to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was commissioned. (RT)
