America, Israel and Iran… a mistake in betting on them and relying on them

Youssef Fares wrote in “Al-Markaziya”:

In light of the forced linking of the situation in the south to the developments of the war in Gaza, the wave of optimism among many Lebanese official and political parties regarding reaching a truce agreement in Gaza has declined after the successive difficulties obstructing this truce have become apparent. Also, in light of the collapse of the American ceasefire project in the Security Council, while the sixth tour carried out by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in the region since the Al-Aqsa Flood operation on the seventh of last October depicted very tense facts, which Lebanon seemed concerned with, even if the heated diplomacy that It is being witnessed in several capitals in the region, centered around attempts to stop the war in Gaza, and the Lebanese issue is not directly raised. Note that it has become unlikely that any breakthrough will occur in the ongoing intense efforts to reach a truce in Gaza, at least before Eid al-Fitr, which leads to negative expectations regarding the continuation or escalation of confrontations on the Lebanese-Israeli border, as any mobilization of diplomatic efforts regarding the situation in the south does not seem to be useful. Before the American envoy Amos Hockstein returned to his shuttle mission between Beirut and Tel Aviv. The data do not indicate the possibility of this return being imminent, which reflects that Hochstein does not yet have sufficient facts and guarantees to move towards achieving tangible results in calming and cooling the situation on the ground in the south in preparation for launching negotiations on the border issue between Lebanon and Israel.

Head of the Liberal Patriots Party and member of the Strong Republic Bloc, MP Camille Chamoun, tells Al-Markazia: It is extremely difficult to talk about optimism in Lebanon in light of the rampant weapons of Hezbollah and the Palestinian factions of various organizations on the one hand, and Israel, which has been greedy since its establishment for our land and wealth, apart from its attacks. And its daily violations of our sovereignty, on the other hand.

It is also a mistake to rely on American efforts, specifically the current administration, as the majority of them are Jews or support Israeli policy, starting with President Joe Biden, who provided Tel Aviv with billions of dollars in financial and military aid, to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and envoy Amos Hochstein, who are Jewish. Here we do not forget what the latter did in the maritime demarcation process when he gave the entire Karish field to Israel at the expense of Lebanon.

As for betting on Iran, it is also misplaced, since it shares the bear’s skin with America. Tehran will not anger Washington now, which lifted the ban on the export of its oil and returned to it more than $112 billion of its financial balances held in foreign banks.

He concludes by pointing out that Israel’s only concern is taking Lebanon’s place in the Arab countries and their markets, as it is its only competitor at various levels.
