What we bombed in Damascus is not a consulate

The Israeli ambassador to Moscow, Simona Halperin, said that Israel is ready for any Iranian response to the targeting of Tehran’s consulate in Damascus.

In a statement today, Wednesday, Halperin stated, “Israel’s history always proves that when it is threatened, it must take these threats seriously and be prepared.”

At the same time, Halperin did not comment on the incident of the attack on the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, adding: “I will not comment on that, but I can say that it was not the embassy or the consulate, but rather a nearby building.”

Israeli aircraft targeted the Iranian consulate building in Damascus, resulting in major destruction there and in neighboring buildings, and the killing of everyone inside the building.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the killing of two brigadier generals in its ranks (Brigadier Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi), and 5 officers accompanying them.

Tehran stressed that the dimensions of the attack are being investigated, warning that “responsibility for its results lies with the aggressor Israeli regime.”
